We have the ombre look in so many things right now. We have it in ink pads, paper, tape and more. Now you can have it in the backgrounds you make for your cards and scrapbook pages. It’s fun to make and it’s easy!
Begin creating the ombre layer by cutting a piece of 4 ¼” x 6 ¼” of white cardstock. Using a blending tool and your choice of color of Distress Ink by Ranger, add a light layer of ink onto the cardstock. The ink should be added onto a non-stick craft sheet and then picked up with the tool by moving it in small circles in the ink and then onto the paper. Be sure to keep a very light pressure on the blending tool as you move it in small circles onto the paper.
Continue to layer the ink on in the center and at the bottom of the paper. You want the top to be the lightest color. When you have a look that you like you can, then, lay it aside and allow it to dry as you do the next steps.
Stamp the image (this is the Oops-A-Daisy stamp by Docrafts) onto a 3 ½” x 5” piece of cardstock and then color it using your favorite colored pencils.
Add the sentiment to the top above the image. Here I chose to continue the ombre look by using three different colors inks for the words. This is an optional choice for you.
Assemble the card by creating a card base. This one is a 5” x 7” base. Add a sheet of your favorite patterned paper (the Hello Spring collection by Echo Park shown here), then, the ombre background you created and your stamped image.
Finish off the inside of your card with your own special sentiment and it’s ready to share.
This card has a lot of color in just one color! The next time you need a quick and easy card, but want it to shine with color this is the technique for you. This makes a great card for any occasion or a simple card just to let someone know you care so make several so you have them on hand the next time you need a card.
