Fall is upon us once again which means fall leaves, crisp apples and pumpkins! These cute paper pumpkins make the perfect decorations for your table displays or anywhere you want to decorate inside. These rosette pumpkins are small so they are perfect for that little space that you may have.
Begin by punching 6- 1” circles from cardstock (orange used for this) using a 1” circle punch and lay them aside. HINT: If you are using a lighter weight cardstock punch twelve circles and glue them together to give them more strength.
Also, punch 1 circle from patterned paper. This paper is from the Spooky line by Carta Bella.
Now cut the following strips from the patterned paper using a paper trimmer: 1- 1” x 12”, 2- 1 ¼” x 12”, 3- 1 ½” x 12” strips.
Score all of the strips using a scoring board in ½” increments and fold them in the mountain-valley fold style.
Once all of the strips are folded, start with one of the strips and add glue to the ends and pull it into a circle and adhere them together. HINT: A clothespin works great to hold them while they dry.
Now cover one of the cardstock circles in glue (Aleene’s Tacky Glue used here) and place it on the bottom side of the newly formed rosette making sure it is centered. Use the glue bottle or something else to weigh the center down so that it sticks in the glue.
Repeat these steps to form all of the rosettes.
Start with one of the 2 ½” rosettes which was made from the 1 ¼” x 12” strips and use it for the bottom tier. Place one of the 3” rosettes (made from the 1 ½” x 12” strips) on top of it making sure to add some glue in between the layer. Repeat this with the next two 3” rosettes, then the 2 ¼” one and finishing off with the 2” rosette on the top.
Glue the patterned paper circle on top of it and allow the pumpkin to completely dry.
Make 3 leaves using a die or punch. Add veins with an embossing stylus and give them a slight fold in the middle to shape them. You can, also, use leaf embellishments for this step.
Use a pick to start a hole in the top of the pumpkin. Enlarge the hole enough to slide a piece of small twig or branch from a tree outdoors into the hole. You can add glue to the sides of the twig to hold it into place.
Tie some piece of raffia around the twig.
Attach the leave using some glue. The Aleene’s Tacky Glue Gel Pen is perfect for this smaller work.
Now comes the fun of using them to decorate! Create more than one and use them everywhere you have a space. Add a sunflower for another fall look. However you decorate them, they will bring the feel of fall into your home this season.
