Have you ever found yourself needing 2 quick cards at the same time, but didn’t want them to look the same? There’s an easy solution for those times and all you need is one tool to create the look and a few others to finish it off. It’s simple and fun to do!
Create the two card bases using cardstock to be any size you would like. These cards are 5” x 7”. White cardstock is preferred to see the inked background.
For the first look, spritz the card base using the Ranger Tim Holtz Marker Spritzer using your favorite markers. Any water based markers can be used in this great tool! Use several colors to add an interesting background look to the card.
Now, tape off (Painters Tape is good to use as it is easily removable) the openings of a stencil that you do not want to use and the ones you will use later. Place the stencil over one area of the card base and spritz the colors through the openings for a stenciled look. Remove the tape from the next section you want to use and line it up with the first part that was stenciled and spritz it. Continue doing this until you have all the areas of the stencil used that you want.
This is an example of the look that is achieved using a stencil.
Stamp a sentiment onto the front of the card and a message on the inside with black ink to finish it off. The black ink against the brightly colored background will make the message pop.
For the second card look, punch squares from cardstock using a square punch and add a removable tape to the backs of them.
Place them on the card base in the pattern that you would like to use. Play around with how they are on there for different looks.
Use several different marker colors and spritz around each one of the squares making sure to cover as much white space as possible.
Once the squares are removed it will reveal the look of the background you will have to use.
Finish off this look by stamping small images in black ink into each of the squares. Stamp a sentiment in the center square for the greeting. Then, use another stamp for the sentiment inside. The flower used on this card is from the Mini Bird Stamp by Inkadinkado.
The next time you’re in a pinch and are in need of two quick cards try this technique using the Ranger Tim Holtz Marker Spritzer and you’ll have what you need in no time. Switch the designs using circles, ovals or anything like and you’ll be guaranteed to never have the same look twice. It’s that easy and fun!
