Do you ever get someone on your mind and keep thinking about them wondering how they are doing? That’s the perfect time to create this Thinking of You Card to send. Let them know they are on your mind and bring a moment of happiness into their life by letting them know that you are thinking about them.
Begin by using your paper trimmer to cut one white piece of cardstock that measures 2 ¾” x 4”, one piece of patterned paper that measures 3” x 4 3/8” and a 3 ½” x 4 7/8” card base. Remember this is only a note sized card so the card base is cut to be a note sized base.
Now, cut another piece of cardstock that is slightly larger than the white piece cut in the previous step. This will become your template.
Using a leaf die (or punch), lay it onto the larger piece of paper. You may have to lay the smaller piece on top and adjust the leaves to make sure they fit.
If you are using a die, you can use pieces of painter’s tape to keep the dies in place as you run them through the die cut machine.
Remove the dies and you now have a template to use. Be sure to save the die cut leaves too.
Lay the newly made template over the smaller piece of cardstock and tape it down to your craft mat.
Add several colors of ink onto the craft mat close to one another. Place your blending tool in the middle of them and start picking up the ink onto the tool using small circles. You basically just want to pick up the ink on the sides where the tool is sitting. You don’t want to mix the inks on the felt pad. They should be individual spots when you look at the felt.
Still using a circular motion, move the blending tool over the edge of the paper without lifting it and work in towards the center to cover the leaves. You can pick up more color off the mat as needed. Come in from different angles to color different areas for more color.
Once you have finished adding the color, remove the template. This is an example of how your piece will now look.
Now, add the color to the individual leaves.
Stamp the sentiment onto the bottom.
Add some color to the edges with the blending tool to help tone down the white background.
Use the tape runner to adhere the layers together on the card base.
Finish the card off by placing some 3-d adhesive onto the leaves and placing them on the card. Then, add a sentiment or hand written note on the inside of the card.
The next time that someone suddenly comes across your mind, don’t delay. Create this card and send it to them. It’s the perfect time to let someone know you care!
