Are you ready for spring? Why not welcome it with this wonderful little planter box that holds some adorable paper flowers? It’s great to place on your desk to warm your creative space with these bright spring colors.
Start by creating the flower box by cutting two pieces of 3” x 6” patterned paper. The paper shown is from the Boardwalk Collection by Bo Bunny and gives a perfect weathered look to the box.
Lay them onto your scoring board and score them at 3”.
Next, score them at ¼” from each end to create a small flap.
Add a line of tape onto one of the flaps on each piece and attach them together to create a box shape.
Cut 4 more pieces of the patterned paper that measure 1” x 4” and score each of them down the center. Fold them on the score lines making sure to have a crisp fold.
Attach each of the legs to the corners of the box making sure to have enough tape on them to hold the edges down. They will have the tendency to pop outward if there is not enough adhesive on them.
Now, cut 3 more pieces of the paper that measure 2” x 4” and score them at ½” on each end.
Run a line of tape on each flap that was created in the previous step and place each divider piece inside the planter at even intervals from front to back.
You’re planter is now finished and it’s time to create the flowers!
Punch or die cut several flowers from patterned paper and cardstock. Layer 2 of them together and punch a hole with a hole punch in the center and attach them with a matching brad.
Cut several strips of green cardstock ¼” x 2” long and ¼” x 2 ½” long. Also, cut two that are 3 ½” long for the tallest flowers in the back. Add some glue to the back of each flower and adhere them to the stems.
At this point, if you want to add some leaves to the stems use a leaf punch or die and die cutting machine to create the leaves. Glue one to the back of some of the stems and others to the front of other stems for a varied look.
Add some adhesive to the bottom front of each stem and attach them to the dividers of the planter. Be sure to stagger the heights of each flower and place the tallest ones in the back.
Die cut a piece of cardstock and stamp the message onto it using a set of alphabet stamps. Attach it to the front of the planter to finish if.
If you’re ready for spring as many of us are have some fun and create this wonderful planter box. Spring not your favorite season? That’s okay. Make one that fits the theme of what season you enjoy.
