Peg Rounds
Shaped cards are as fun to make as they are to receive. This star card is the perfect example of one. It’s easy to make and can be used for many occasions and themes.
Cut a piece of 12” x 12” cardstock down to 8 ¾” x 10” using a paper trimmer.
On the 10” side (the long side) of the paper, measure and place a mark at the half way (5”) mark.
Line the mark and one corner of the cardstock up in the paper trimmer and make the cut. Turn the paper so that the mark and the other bottom corner are lined up in the trimmer and cut.
You should now have a 8 ¾” tall and 10” wide (at the base) triangle.
Score the triangle at 4 3/8” and 5 7/8” on each side using a score board.
Fold on all of the score lines.
This is what the card will look like at this point. Close it by folding one edge in under the other two like you would close a box lid.
Create two templates to use for tracing onto the patterned paper. These pieces will match each of the areas on the card. The first template should measure 3 ¼” on the top, 5” inches on the bottom and the connecting sides should be 1 ½” in length. The triangle is 3” on each side and 2 ¾” wide on the bottom.
Also, create a triangle that measures 4 ¼” tall and 4 ¾” wide. This will be the template for the patterned paper in the center.
Trace three of the smaller triangles and three of the box style pieces onto the patterned paper. Whiteout Collection by Bo Bunny is the patterned paper used on this project. Also, trace one of the larger triangles onto the paper. Cut out each piece. You can use a pair of scissors for this step.
Attach all of the patterned paper pieces onto the card using a tape runner.
Cut a 4” tall by 3 3/8” wide at the bottom triangle and stamp the greeting onto it in black ink or another color of ink. Attach it to the center of the card inside.
Decorate the outside of the card with punched snowflakes, stickers or embellishments of your choice.
The next time you need to make a card create this awesome star shaped card and add some fun to the occasion. It makes a great holiday card, birthday card or even graduation card just by matching the patterned paper to the theme. This card will surely be the “star” of any occasion!
